The main compartment snugly holds up to 4 semi-auto pistols in an upright fashion. Everything from your compact to a full size 1911 will fit. The zippers for the gun compartment can be locked with a padlock making this backpack a legal locking container in the car & safe from prying eyes. A built in rain-fly ensures nothing gets wet if the weather turns south. Multiple accessory pockets hold all your gear including safety glasses, targets, ammunition, hearing protection & spare magazines. MOLLE straps wrap the backpack & are ready for your gear.     Answered by the admin That is really close to the 8.625" max size. It will take up the whole slot area, but will still work.

    Answered by the admin About 8 5/8" in length. Slightly longer will fit as well, but try to keep the guns within 8 5/8".

    Each slot is made to about the same width as a 1911. The foam would come no where close to accommodating the cylinder on a larger revolver like that. You could get away with a small snub nose revolver, but not the ones you listed.

    Yes, when the firearm compartment is locked with a padlock to prevent unauthorized access. California Penal Code section 16850 does not describe a locked container as needing to be a hard sided case. However you still might consider going with a hard sided case to avoid any confusion by an uneducated officer and to save yourself the hassle.

    the term "locked container" means a secure container that is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or similar locking device. This includes the trunk of a motor vehicle, but does not include the utility or glove compartment.

    The hole size is 0.175" diameter. It is smaller than most shackles so be sure to buy a lock with a small shackle.

    Here are the directions on how to fit the guns correctly. Once ordered the product will also come with these directions. If done correctly all your guns will fit snugly without movement.

    This product is not intended for revolvers because the cylinder is too wide for the foam slots. It will only fit semi-auto pistols with a max length of 8 5/8" (8.625").

    There is a storage compartment at the top intended for larger items such as ear protection & eye protection. The side pockets will hold smaller items.
    A Get electronic foldables and they'll squeeze into the high side pockets. Save the big storage area for ammo boxes and other large items.

    We currently mass produce the 4 pistol insert which brings the cost down. Technically we could custom cut a different configuration, but the cost to do so (for only one backpack) would be more expensive then the backpack itself. If we received enough requests for this new version that we could do a larger production run we would definitely consider it, but as of now your request is the first.
